Week of November 9

I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. On Wednesday we will be observing Veterans Day at Timmons Elementary by learning about what makes our veterans so special.  For those who still need their picture taken or need to retake their school photo Thursday will be picture retake day. Also on Thursday will be parent teacher conferences for those families who did not have their conference last week. Remember that all conferences must start and end on time to be fair to all families. In math this week students are continuing to learn multiplication. It is important for students to begin practicing their multiplication facts at home. Next week students will be taking a multiplication test with the focus on factors 0-5. A study guide for the test will be coming home later this week. In ELA students will be finishing up our class read aloud for the novel Sarah Plain and Tall. We will also be finishing up the book Stone Fox as we continue to learn about the historical fiction genre. During ELA students have been learning about how to use prefixes and suffixes in their writing. Students are also learning how to identify a main idea using supporting details. In science students have been observing kidney beans that have begun to sprout as we learn about the life cycle of plants. During social studies students continue to learn about the history of Auburn and Bainbridge. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
