Week of October 19

Hello,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. This week students will be taking the AIR Test for ELA on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will be taking the tests in the morning. It is important that students get a good nights sleep so that they are well rested for their test. If a student is absent on either of those two days Thursday is the only make up day for the test. The final day of the first grading period will be this Thursday. There will be no school on Friday because it is a teacher workday. On Monday students will be receiving their book for one school one book. Families will receive a schedule, and weekly engagement activities that they can do at home with the book Fenway and Hattie. On Tuesday students will be taking their animal life cycles test. Students will also be observing their caterpillars that they received last week as well during science. We will be completing our unit on addition and subtraction this week. Students will be taking a test on addition and subtraction next week on Tuesday. A study guide for it will be going home this week for students to use to help prepare for the test. Last week we finished up our unit on folktales. This week for ELA we will begin our second reading genre which focus on historical fiction. In class we will be reading the book Sarah Plain and Tall. Students will also begin reading groups where they will be reading a historical fiction book at their reading level to read. On Thursday students will be quizzed over the words they received last week. During social studies we will continue to learn about the history of Auburn and Bainbridge.
