Week of September 7


I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. It was great meeting all of my new students last week. This week at Timmons bus riders will practice a bus evacuation drill on Wednesday morning. The entire school will also be practicing a fire drill on Thursday. This week students will be receiving their first reading log. They should try and read twenty to thirty minutes each night on school days. Reading logs will be due back to school next Monday. In math this week students will continue to learn about place value. They will have a place value test next week on Thursday. Students will receive a study guide for it this Thursday. In social studies students are learning about communities. Part of the unit on communities is for students learn how to write their home address. Students will have a quiz on writing their address next Tuesday. Make sure your child is practicing writing their address each night. In science the class is learning about animal life cycles. Our class currently has lady bugs that we are studying the life cycle of. For ELA students have begun learning how to retell a story using story maps. Students will also be learning how to write a five sentence paragraph this week. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
