Week of February 10

Hello,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. This Wednesday weather permitting students will be skiing during gym class. Students must bring snow pants to ski. On Thursday is our class Valentines party. A class roster went home on Friday so that students may make valentines to pass out. Students must make a valentine for every student in the class not just select students if they are to pass out valentines. There should be no food items being passed out with valentines. On Friday we will not be having school for teacher professional development day and on Monday the seventh there will be no school for presidents day.

On Tuesday students will be taking their division test. Our next unit in math will be fractions. This Thursday student’s animal projects are due. A reminder of how the project is to be done was sent home last Friday. Next week on Tuesday students will be taking the map skills test. A study guide will be going home on Monday for this test. In ELA we have begun learning about nonfiction text features. We will continue to learn about them all this week. We will also continue with learning about main idea and supporting details. This week we will finish our class read aloud book, Mysteries According to Humphrey. Students are still reading a mystery genre story in their reading groups. On Thursday is the students spelling test over the words that were given to them last week. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Mr. Aurand
