Week of November 18

Hello,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. With the weather getting colder I would like to remind families to please send your child dressed to go outside for recess each day. Students are allowed to keep a pair of snow pants at school during the week but they must go home for the weekend to be washed. Students should have winter coats, hats, gloves and boats to wear when they go out. They will need snow pants to go on the equipment area when there is snow on the ground. Last week I started to reassess students on their reading levels. Once I have completed assessing a students reading level I will inform them of their new level so that they can pick out appropriate books for themselves.

Last week during social studies students completed their unit 2 test. These test will be in their Friday folders this week. Our next unit will be on communities in history. In science the students did a class vote to have their plant life cycles test on Tuesday November 26. A study guide will be coming home for it this week. Please make sure to spend extra time studying the vocabulary section. In math we are completing our second unit on multiplication by having a test this Thursday. Our next unit will be on area and perimeter. During ELA we continue to focus on historical fiction. Last week we started the book Because of Winn Dixie as a class read aloud. We our continuing to learn about affixes along with character traits during ELA as well. Remember the spelling words students received last week are the words they will be tested on this Friday. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Mr. Aurand
