Week of September 2

I hope everyone had a nice long Labor Day weekend. On Wednesday this week students will be taking their address quiz. Please make sure that your child is practicing at home. On Thursday students who are interested in being apart of student council will give their speeches. Students have to write up their speeches and show it to me if they’re giving one. Also on Thursday we will be having a pod talk with the boys and girls scouts. On Friday students will be taking their first math test of the school year.

This week in Math we will be focusing on reviewing for test this Friday. Please use the study guide to prepare at home. In Social studies we will continue to learn about our community and begin learning about other communities as we prepare to send out Flat Stanley’s. Students will be bringing home information on this later in the week. This week in science we will observe how our lady bugs have changed and begin to focus on the life cycle of other animals. In ELA students will have their first spelling test on Friday. Make sure they are practicing their words at home. We will continue to be learning about different types of folktales in class as well. My hope is to have every child’s reading level by the end of the week. Make sure your child is reading at least twenty minutes every night at home and filling in their reading logs. In class we will be talking about the difference between nouns and verbs this week as well. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
